John Halloran's practice focuses on complex litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and public service. As a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, he represented the United States in landmark proceedings throughout the nation, including cases involving bank fraud, money laundering, and constitutional law. In private practice, he has represented individuals, multinational corporations, and foreign states and governmental entities, including the European Union and its Member States. John has handled myriad criminal-law proceedings, including the pro bono representation of indigent criminal defendants on appeal. Mr. Halloran has also served as counsel of record in the nation's leading appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, New York Court of Appeals, and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (First and Second Departments). Mr. Halloran has been appointed to serve as a Special Referee for the Grievance Committee (Ninth and Tenth Judicial Districts); Special Master for the Mandatory Civil Appeals Mediation Program of the Second Judicial Department; Member of the Committee on Character and Fitness (Ninth Judicial District); and Roster Mediator, Westchester Commercial Division. John Halloran began his legal career as a law clerk to Senior Associate Judge Matthew J. Jasen of the New York Court of Appeals who maintained chambers at Court of Appeals Hall in Albany, NY and the Erie County Hall in Buffalo, NY.
